Job Description
Job Summary
The Tools Engineer is responsible for end-to-end implementation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual servers in the data center environment. The role includes system deployment, upgrades, performance monitoring, security compliance, and automation to ensure reliable and high-performing IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Implement HP and Dell servers from ordering to hosting into the Data Center, performing complete end-to-end server hosting processes.
- Install, upgrade, and configure new Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu) and Windows servers, including new releases.
- Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot servers with operating systems Red Hat 8/9, Windows 2022 Std, application software, and network connectivity.
- Integrate servers with in-house tools and monitoring platforms.
- Build, deploy, and support system performance.
- Install, configure, and upgrade virtualized platforms: Red Hat KVM and VMware Virtualization 6.x & 7.x.
- Migrate Red Hat servers from version 7 to 8 and 9.x.
- Implement and manage Red Hat KVM virtualization platforms.
- Install, configure, and manage major MicroStrategy upgrades from 10.x to 11.x.
- Perform overall administration of Red Hat servers, including upgrades, vulnerability patching, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Configure systems according to NIST Cybersecurity CSF profile controls on production systems, mitigating vulnerabilities across critical, high, medium, and low severity levels, and implementing security standard roles based on baseline assessment.
- Transition to DevOps technologies by implementing and managing Docker containers and container clusters; work with container orchestration tools like Docker Swarm to manage and control containers.
- Provide local administrative support for enterprise tools, including role approvals, data uploads, troubleshooting, and hardware replacement (ordering and installation).
- Automate server backups with Red Hat REAR and VM backups with VEEAM; manage SAN and NAS storage devices.
- Implement, manage, and troubleshoot LAMP stack components, including PHP, Python, Python libraries and modules, MariaDB 10.x, Tomcat 9.x, Apache HTTPD, and MySQL.
- Install, configure, and tune databases (MySQL, MariaDB), including optimizing OS parameters to enhance performance.
- Liaise with sourcing teams for ordering hardware parts, performing hardware upgrades, and replacing faulty server components.
