Job Purpose

The Solution Architect – Next Generation Integration is responsible for defining, designing, and governing the end-to-end architecture and integration landscape for modern enterprise digital platforms, including mobile applications, web applications, APIs, cloud services, and enterprise systems.

The role ensures that enterprise digital platforms and their integrations are scalable, secure, resilient, and future-ready, aligned with enterprise architecture principles, security standards, and the organization’s long-term digital transformation strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Technology & Information Security, the Solution Architect provides technical leadership across engineering, delivery, infrastructure, vendors, and architecture governance forums while shaping the long-term roadmap for enterprise digital platforms and integration services.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

Architecture & Design

  • Define end-to-end solution architecture and integration patterns for enterprise applications, digital platforms, APIs, and backend services.
  • Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), architecture diagrams, and technical specifications for new initiatives and major enhancements.
  • Ensure architectural alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security frameworks, and technology governance principles.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology platforms, cloud services, vendor solutions, and architectural approaches.
  • Review solution designs to ensure scalability, maintainability, availability, performance, resilience, and security.
  • Promote architecture best practices across enterprise technology initiatives.

Integration Governance

  • Design API, middleware, messaging, and event-driven integration patterns between enterprise applications, cloud services, internal systems, and third-party platforms.
  • Define and enforce standards for security, scalability, resilience, interoperability, and integration governance.
  • Guide the adoption of cloud-native, hybrid cloud, container-based, and event-driven architecture patterns.
  • Participate in or chair Architecture Review Boards (ARB) to ensure architectural compliance across projects.
  • Define reusable integration services and promote API-first architecture principles.

Delivery Support

  • Provide architectural leadership throughout the project lifecycle from solution design through production deployment.
  • Participate in design reviews, architecture validation sessions, and technical governance activities.
  • Guide engineering, integration, and delivery teams on architecture best practices, design patterns, and non-functional requirements.
  • Support deployment planning, production readiness assessments, and operational handover activities.
  • Assist in resolving complex architectural and integration challenges across enterprise systems.

Technology Strategy

  • Define and maintain the architecture roadmap for enterprise digital platforms, applications, APIs, and integration services.
  • Promote standardisation, modular architecture, reusable services, and reduction of technical debt.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, cloud platforms, integration tools, and architectural frameworks.
  • Lead Proof of Concepts (PoCs), technology evaluations, and innovation initiatives.
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture strategy and digital transformation programmes.

Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with Business, Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Operations, and Vendor teams to deliver strategic technology solutions.
  • Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture standards, information security policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit, risk management, and compliance initiatives related to enterprise applications and integration platforms.
  • Mentor solution designers, developers, and technical leads on architecture standards and best practices.
  • Present architectural proposals and recommendations to governance boards and senior stakeholders.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree is advantageous.

Experience

  • 8–12 years of experience in Software Engineering, Systems Integration, Solution Architecture, or Enterprise Architecture.
  • Minimum of 5 years designing and delivering enterprise-scale application and integration architectures.
  • Proven experience architecting enterprise digital platforms, API ecosystems, and cloud-native solutions.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, mobile technologies, API gateways, and enterprise integration frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide multidisciplinary delivery teams through complex technical decisions.
  • Experience supporting enterprise modernization and digital transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
