Job Description

Job Purpose

The Solution Architect – Enterprise Platform is responsible for defining, designing, and governing the end-to-end architecture of enterprise applications and digital platforms.

The role ensures that enterprise platform architecture is scalable, secure, resilient, and future-ready while aligning with enterprise architecture standards, cybersecurity requirements, business objectives, and technology strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Technology & Information Security, the Solution Architect provides technical leadership across delivery teams, vendors, and architecture governance forums, shaping the long-term technology roadmap and ensuring consistent adoption of architectural best practices.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

Architecture & Solution Design

  • Define end-to-end solution architecture and integration patterns for enterprise applications and supporting platforms.
  • Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), architecture diagrams, and technical specifications for new initiatives and major enhancements.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles, security frameworks, and technology standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology platforms, vendor solutions, cloud services, and architectural approaches.
  • Review solution designs to ensure scalability, maintainability, availability, and performance requirements are met.

Integration Architecture & Governance

  • Design API, middleware, event-driven, and service-oriented integration patterns between enterprise applications and internal or third-party systems.
  • Define and enforce standards for security, scalability, resilience, interoperability, and integration architecture.
  • Guide the adoption of cloud-native, hybrid-cloud, and microservices-based architecture where appropriate.
  • Participate in or chair Architecture Review Boards (ARB) and provide governance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure architecture decisions support long-term maintainability and technology standardization.

Delivery & Technical Leadership

  • Participate in solution design reviews and provide architectural guidance throughout project delivery.
  • Support development, infrastructure, and integration teams by promoting architecture best practices and design standards.
  • Review non-functional requirements including availability, performance, security, scalability, disaster recovery, and resilience.
  • Support deployment planning, production readiness assessments, and transition into operational support.
  • Resolve complex technical issues and provide strategic guidance for technology decisions.

Technology Strategy

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise application architecture roadmap.
  • Promote technology standardization, solution reusability, and reduction of technical debt.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and conduct proof-of-concept initiatives to support innovation.
  • Contribute to long-term technology planning and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure architecture supports business growth, operational efficiency, and future scalability.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards, information security policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, risk, compliance, and governance teams to maintain secure solution architectures.
  • Support architecture documentation, audits, and technical governance activities.
  • Establish architecture principles, reference models, and reusable design patterns across the technology landscape.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree is advantageous.

Experience

  • 8–12 years of experience in Software Engineering, Systems Integration, Solution Architecture, or Enterprise Architecture.
  • Minimum of 5 years designing and delivering enterprise-scale application architectures and complex system integration programmes.
  • Proven experience developing cloud-native, distributed, and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience leading architecture governance, solution reviews, and enterprise technology transformation initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with cybersecurity, infrastructure, compliance, and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide cross-functional technical teams through complex architectural decisions.
