The Senior Architect: Wallet Platform Evolution is responsible for driving the architecture, solution design, and strategic evolution of the organization’s digital wallet platform.

This role provides strategic architectural leadership for the wallet ecosystem, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, resilient, cost-effective, and aligned with business strategy, customer experience objectives, regulatory requirements, and technology roadmaps.

The position is accountable for designing and governing the end-to-end wallet architecture to support digital payment services, interoperability, embedded financial services, merchant ecosystems, and multi-channel transaction capabilities. The role also leads platform modernization, architectural standardization, integration strategies, and product evolution while ensuring consistency across multiple business units, markets, or regions.

Working closely with business leaders, product owners, engineering teams, enterprise architects, technology partners, and solution vendors, the role ensures the wallet platform continues to evolve as a secure, reusable, and future-ready digital payments platform.

1. Wallet Platform Architecture Strategy

• Translate business strategy, product roadmaps, and ecosystem requirements into target-state wallet architecture and technology roadmaps.
• Define and maintain enterprise architecture principles for the digital wallet platform.
• Ensure wallet architecture supports scalability, high availability, resilience, security, and operational efficiency.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural enhancements that improve platform capability and customer experience.

2. Wallet Platform Design & Evolution

• Lead the architectural design and continuous evolution of the core wallet platform.
• Assess, prioritize, and govern platform enhancements, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
• Define reusable architecture patterns that support multiple deployment models and business requirements.
• Ensure platform evolution aligns with enterprise digital, data, integration, and channel strategies.

3. Platform Standardization & Multi-Environment Enablement

• Develop architecture frameworks that enable standardized deployment across multiple business units, markets, or regions.
• Promote reuse of wallet services, APIs, and platform capabilities.
• Establish technical standards, policies, and governance for wallet customization and integration.
• Balance standardization with the flexibility required to support local business and regulatory requirements.

4. Solution Architecture & Integration

• Design secure and scalable wallet integration architectures supporting:

6. Delivery Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Collaborate with business, product, engineering, operations, and technology teams to ensure architectural alignment throughout project delivery.
• Facilitate architecture workshops and technical design sessions.
• Provide subject matter expertise on wallet platform architecture, integration patterns, and payment technologies.
• Support delivery teams using Agile methodologies while accommodating traditional project delivery approaches where appropriate.

7. Platform Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct regular capability assessments and gap analyses to identify opportunities for platform enhancement.
• Drive modernization initiatives that improve platform performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to support long-term platform evolution.
• Promote innovation through reusable architecture patterns and technology standardization.

• Lead or participate in architecture governance forums for wallet platform initiatives.
• Monitor architecture performance using key performance indicators, including:

Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in:

Professional Certifications (Preferred)

• TOGAF or equivalent Enterprise Architecture certification

Experience

• Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, payments technology, digital platforms, financial technology, or related technology environments.
