The client is looking for a Senior AI/ML Engineer (Payor Focus) to work in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

About the Role:

The client is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer (Payor Focus) with deep domain experience in healthcare or insurance to design and deploy advanced AI/ML models that power claims automation, underwriting and clinical analytics. This hands-on technical role involves owning the full machine learning lifecycle while working closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors. You’ll be responsible for delivering production-grade solutions aligned with healthcare regulations—without people-management duties but with high influence across teams.

Key Interfaces:

  • Internal Stakeholders: Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Managers, Clinical SMEs, Underwriters, Legal & Compliance Teams.
  • External Stakeholders: AI vendors, technology partners, cloud service providers.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Oversight:

  • Lead the end-to-end ML lifecycle: from data preprocessing to model deployment and monitoring.
  • Design scalable ML workflows suited for healthcare and insurance domains.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and ethical AI standards are upheld across all AI initiatives.

Vendor Management:

  • Evaluate and onboard third-party AI solutions or APIs where appropriate.
  • Integrate vendor products into internal systems while maintaining data security and performance standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with clinical experts, product teams, underwriters, and analysts to identify impactful AI use cases.
  • Translate business goals into ML problems and communicate progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with legal and infosec teams to ensure regulatory adherence (e.g., HIPAA-equivalent standards in UAE).

Innovation & Research:

  • Stay abreast of emerging research in predictive analytics, fraud detection, and patient segmentation.
  • Encourage exploration of new models and approaches to continuously enhance AI performance and relevance.

Operational Excellence (MLOps):

  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines, implement model versioning, and monitor live models for drift and degradation.
  • Optimize infrastructure (e.g., compute, storage, inference costs) to ensure efficient and scalable deployments.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

Professional Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML development, including model deployment in production environments.
  • 2+ years in a technical leadership role (team lead, project lead, etc).
  • Strong background in healthcare or insurance AI/analytics is highly preferred.
    (e.g. experience with claims adjudication, patient data analytics, underwriting models or fraud detection).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Python, R, or C++.
  • Experience with ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, data lakes, Spark and large-scale data processing.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to translate AI outputs into business impact.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and clinical teams.
  • Organized and effective at managing multiple AI projects and priorities.
  • Experience managing or evaluating AI vendors is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with NLP, computer vision, or other specialized AI fields relevant to healthcare.
  • Experience with healthcare analytics platforms, medical coding, or payor-provider systems.
  • Knowledge of UAE-specific healthcare data regulations is advantageous.
