Overview

The RAN Network Optimization Expert is responsible for delivering high-quality radio network performance through advanced analysis, optimization, and continuous improvement of the Radio Access Network (RAN). The role focuses on maximizing network efficiency, capacity, coverage, and user experience while ensuring compliance with defined KPIs, SLAs, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

RAN Performance Analysis & Optimization

• Analyze RAN KPIs and counters related to accessibility, retainability, mobility, throughput, and availability.
• Identify performance degradation, capacity bottlenecks, interference, and coverage issues impacting customer experience.
• Perform advanced root cause analysis using performance data, traces, alarms, and configuration audits.
• Monitor network trends and recommend optimization actions to improve overall network quality.

Optimization Strategy & Execution

• Design and implement RAN optimization activities including parameter tuning, feature activation, load balancing, and traffic steering.
• Optimize handover performance, interference mitigation, mobility management, and traffic distribution across multiple technologies and layers.
• Support network modernization, expansion, refarming, and densification projects from an optimization perspective.
• Ensure optimization activities align with operational and customer performance targets.

Continuous Improvement & Quality Management

• Drive continuous network performance improvement initiatives aligned with contractual KPIs and service quality objectives.
• Validate network performance after changes, upgrades, integrations, and corrective actions.
• Proactively identify risks, performance gaps, and recommend preventive optimization measures.
• Contribute to the development of optimization best practices and operational guidelines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with planning, rollout, operations, fault management, transmission, and field teams to ensure end-to-end network optimization.
• Support major incidents and high-impact events with detailed performance analysis and optimization recommendations.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of network performance issues.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and operational teams.

Reporting & Customer Interaction

• Prepare detailed network performance, optimization, and improvement reports for internal stakeholders and customers.
• Present optimization findings, action plans, and performance improvements in technical and management review meetings.
• Support customer audits, acceptance activities, and performance review discussions related to RAN quality and KPIs.
• Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation of optimization activities and recommendations.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in RAN technologies including LTE and 5G NR.
• Deep understanding of radio KPIs, counters, radio parameters, and optimization methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with OSS platforms, performance monitoring tools, drive test analysis, and trace analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Knowledge of mobility optimization, interference management, and capacity optimization techniques.
• Ability to interpret technical data and communicate business impact effectively.
• Experience working in multi-vendor and multi-technology network environments is preferred.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
