Job Description

The client is looking for a Power, Environment & Infrastructure Architect based in The Caribbean.

The Power, Environment, Infrastructure & Towers Architect is responsible for the strategic planning, design governance, and optimization of all power systems, environmental controls, physical infrastructure, and tower assets across the network estate. This includes mobile sites, towers, rooftops, exchanges, data centres, shelters, and associated civil and structural infrastructure.

The role ensures that all infrastructure assets are engineered to support current and future network requirements, meet regulatory and safety standards, and deliver high availability at optimal lifecycle cost, while advancing energy efficiency and reducing the company’s environmental footprint.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, standardization, and governance of power, environmental, and infrastructure systems across all network sites and facilities.
  • Define and enforce technical standards for:
    • Site power systems (AC/DC, generators, batteries, renewables)
    • HVAC and environmental controls
    • Grounding and lightning protection
    • Civil works and shelters
    • Towers, rooftops, and structural assets
  • Develop and implement energy efficiency strategies across the network estate, including power optimization, cooling efficiency, and low-energy site designs.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce carbon emissions through renewable energy integration, hybrid power systems, smart energy management, and fuel optimization.
  • Provide technical assurance for all tower and infrastructure investments, including structural analysis, load assessments, and reinforcement programs.
  • Review and approve designs, BoQs, technical submissions, and deployment methodologies from vendors and partners.
  • Lead infrastructure and tower modernization, upgrade, and resilience programs.
  • Support CAPEX planning, forecasting, and optimization for infrastructure and site programs, including evaluation of energy-related investments and payback models.
  • Drive cost efficiency through standardization, lifecycle management, and sustainable engineering practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Define redundancy, protection, and disaster-recovery models for critical sites and facilities.
  • Work closely with Network, IT, Facilities, PMO, Finance, and Procurement teams to align infrastructure investments with business priorities and sustainability objectives.
  • Support vendor selection, contract negotiations, and performance management, with emphasis on energy and environmental performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and delivery teams.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8–12 years’ experience in telecom infrastructure, power systems, and tower/site engineering.
  • Proven experience in designing and managing:
    • Mobile site and tower infrastructure
    • Power and energy systems
    • Data centre or exchange environments
    • Energy efficiency and sustainability programs
    • Large-scale network rollout programs
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental compliance frameworks.
  • Experience working with multi-vendor environments and managed service providers.
  • Demonstrated experience in CAPEX planning and technical cost optimization.
  • Strong project governance and stakeholder management skills.
