Job Description
The Performance Management Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end management of network performance monitoring, reporting, analysis, and optimization support. The role ensures the availability, accuracy, and integrity of network performance data while providing actionable insights to support operational excellence, capacity planning, network acceptance, and continuous network improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Manage end-to-end network performance management activities across all supported technologies and domains.
- Ensure the availability, accuracy, and integrity of network performance data.
- Define and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), thresholds, formulas, and reporting standards.
- Produce periodic and ad-hoc network performance reports for management, engineering, and operational teams.
- Develop dashboards and automated reporting solutions to support performance visibility and decision-making.
- Analyze network performance trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
Data Collection & Management
- Configure and maintain data collection schedules, processing workflows, and performance monitoring systems.
- Manage network performance databases and data warehousing solutions.
- Ensure timely collection, storage, and processing of network performance data.
- Support data quality management and governance initiatives.
- Develop and enhance reporting tools, databases, and performance management platforms.
Network Performance Analysis
- Conduct detailed performance analysis to identify network issues, bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and optimization opportunities.
- Perform proactive trend analysis to detect potential performance degradation before customer impact occurs.
- Provide root cause analysis and performance recommendations to operational and engineering teams.
- Support service quality improvement initiatives through data-driven insights.
Capacity Planning & Network Evolution
- Support network capacity planning and future growth strategies through performance analysis and forecasting.
- Provide utilization and capacity reports to assist in network dimensioning and investment planning.
- Collaborate with planning and engineering teams to identify and prioritize network enhancements.
Network Acceptance & Optimization Support
- Support network acceptance activities through performance validation, reporting, and analysis.
- Work closely with network planning and optimization teams to develop and monitor performance improvement plans.
- Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of optimization activities and network upgrades.
- Provide performance-related inputs for new deployments, expansions, and modernization projects.
Cross-Functional Support
- Support Fault Management activities by providing performance insights and trend analysis.
- Support Configuration Management processes through performance impact assessments.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, planning, and service management teams to ensure network performance objectives are achieved.
- Participate in incident investigations and problem management activities when performance-related issues arise.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of telecommunications network performance management principles and methodologies.
- Experience with network monitoring, reporting, and performance management tools.
- Knowledge of KPI development, threshold management, and performance analytics.
- Proficiency in database management, SQL, data warehousing, and reporting platforms.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret large datasets.
- Experience with dashboarding and business intelligence tools.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.
Profile Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in network performance management, reporting, analytics, or optimization within telecommunications environments.
- Experience working with mobile, fixed, IP, transport, or converged network technologies.
- Strong understanding of network KPIs, service quality metrics, and operational processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience in automation, scripting, or reporting tool development is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of performance management platforms, analytics tools, and database technologies is highly desirable.
