Job Description
The client is looking for a Data Center NOC FO Manager to work a 6 month rolling contract based in Johannesburg.
Job Responsibilities:
NOC Operations & Management:
- Lead and manage the Data Centre NOC team to monitor and maintain all data centre infrastructure.
- Ensure 24/7 proactive monitoring of data centre systems, identifying and resolving incidents to minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement NOC policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
- Coordinate troubleshooting and escalation processes to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, maintenance activities, and system performance.
- Lead the team to compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
Infrastructure & Technical Oversight:
- Oversee the health and performance of network equipment, cooling systems (HVAC), power backup systems (UPS, generators, DC plants), and AC units.
- Work closely with vendors and service providers to ensure timely maintenance and support.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate potential failures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and security protocols.
Customer & Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for MTN stakeholders regarding data centre operations.
- Ensure effective communication with clients regarding incidents, planned maintenance, and system performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and third-party service providers.
- Handle customer escalations and drive service improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage and mentor the NOC team, ensuring continuous skill development and performance management.
- Provide training and guidance to ensure staff are equipped to handle complex data centre operations.
- Foster a proactive and service-oriented team culture.
Experience/Qualifications Required:
- 5+ years of experience in Network operations, NOC management, or critical infrastructure oversight.
- 2+ years in a leadership role managing technical teams in a 24/7 environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of data centre operations, infrastructure monitoring, and incident management.
- Excellent at PPT,EXCEL,WORD and Reporting.
Education/Required Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Please note: Consultants must already be based in South Africa.
