Responsibilities

Core Performance Engineer will be responsible for Mobile Core Network analysis, on-demand monitoring, studies, supporting relevant teams, and developing reports and tools. Required skills and activities should include, but not be limited to:

  • Develop necessary network KPIs and capacity audits under CS/IMS/IN/PS network by analyzing degradations and resource usage balancing.
  • Analyze the impact of new projects, features, and network activities during night time and conclude relevant recommendations.
  • Support core requests from different teams (Design, Solution, Optimization, Project, Back Office, Customer, etc.).
  • Team internal preparations, development, and update for data and statistics handling, processing, reporting, scripting to cover required existing and new technologies, network components, and features.
  • International Network KPIs Performance & Quality analysis, including:
    • NER, ASR, ACT, VoIP KPIs (MOS, Jitter, Packet loss, Delay, etc.) as per SLA targets by conducting Root Cause Analysis for various traffic scenarios (Outgoing, Incoming & Transit).
    • International routes performance analysis for dimensioning route capacity and selecting the best performing carrier per destination.
    • International Nodes KPIs.
    • Inbound and Outbound International Roamers analysis (LU, SAI, IMSI attach, PRN, data usage Steering platform, etc.) for MAP & Diameter signaling focusing on Roaming Partners.
  • CS/PS/Core Network performance analysis (MSS, MGW, STP, CTC, GGSN/PGW, etc.)
  • Highlighting network bottlenecks for planning team consideration based on current and forecast figures, especially during Hajj and Eid events.
  • MPBN transport Networks KPIs analysis.
  • IMS performance analysis & reporting.
  • Coordination with & supporting related teams (Projects, Planning, OSS, Back Office) for network dimensioning and activities related to Core Nodes, Software Upgrades, Hardware Expansion, and new node deployment ensuring relevant KPIs are maintained in the normal range.
  • Handling MasterClaw System (probe-based network performance tool) by creating reports for Core & International KPIs, dashboards.
  • Configuration, alarm setting, and continuous thresholds tuning to remain up to date with dynamic network changes.
  • MVNO & National Roaming performance analysis.
  • Supporting customer & regulatory ad-hoc requests, especially during special events (Hajj, Ramadan, Eid) and emergency cases.
  • Preparing MNS SLA reports, Governance KPIs reports, and other management reports.
  • Design Business Objects SAP KPIs reports & new KPIs based on Network Impact Reports (NIR) for new software releases using OSS and network intelligence tools.
  • Provide Service Impact Reports (SIR) for incident and activity analysis.
  • Configure & maintain Performance Statistical Alarms for CS/PS and IN Core (MSC, MGW, I/STP, ITSC, IMS, SGSN-MME, GGSN-PGW, PCRF, etc.).
  • Proactively identifying early warning signs for possible risks and recommend preventive actions to avoid potential service interruption or degradation.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by fulfilling contractual SLA KPIs and other metrics.
  • Experienced in multi-vendor environments including Huawei, Nokia, etc.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve performance and processes and help translate operator expectations into measurable requirements & technical solutions.
  • Supporting automation for multiple use cases.
  • Prepare Ramadan and Hajj Plans (requirements and expansions needed for different nodes – licenses, interfaces, processors, routing, contingency plans) using reports to monitor and analyze the network during special events and emergencies.

Education

  • Preferred BSc degree in Telecommunication Engineering.

Technical Competence

  • Deep knowledge in Mobile Core Networks.
  • CS Core MSC-S, STP, MGW, IMS, CTC nodes.
  • PS Core SGSN-MME, GGSN-PGW, PCRF, etc.
  • IN CCN, SDP, VS, AIR, IVR.
  • Basic experience in RAN 2G/3G/LTE.
  • Signaling System (SS7, BSSMAP, CAP, INAP, DTAP, Sigtran, SS7 over IP) and experience in telecom signaling protocols (ISUP, BICC, MAP, CAP, SIP, H.248, IP, Diameter).
  • Understanding of mobile network interfaces (Iu, A, Gx, Gy, S1, S5, S6a, SGS, Gi, Cx, Dx, etc.)
  • Experience in mobile network call flows (CS/PS/IN).
  • Growth analysis and forecast skills for subscribers and traffic types.
  • Advanced analytical, planning, and proactive skills.
  • Business Intelligence tools: Business Objects (query designer), MasterClaw.
  • UNIX shell scripting & SQL procedures for PM data collection, processing, and analysis.
  • Power BI, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) including formulas and basic macros.
  • Able to use basic MML commands for checking and monitoring Core measurement.
  • Experience with large databases such as Oracle, MS SQL.
  • Using statistics to forecast growth and identify congested parts of the Core network.
