L2 Middleware

JOB PURPOSE
• Provide expert L2 support for middleware platforms and integration layers that connect BSS application components within the enterprise BSS managed services environment.
• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of integration middleware enabling BSS-to-BSS and BSS-to-OSS communication.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administer and support middleware platforms: IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, Oracle Service Bus, or Red Hat JBoss Fuse.
• Provide L2 support for ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) and message broker platforms used in BSS integration.
• Monitor message queues, topics, message throughput, and consumer lag on middleware platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve middleware incidents: queue backlogs, message poison events, connection pool exhaustion, integration failures.
• Manage middleware configuration: queue/topic creation, routing rules, transformation definitions – under Change Management.
• Investigate and resolve integration failures between BSS components: CRM, Billing, Order Management, Mediation.
• Administer JBoss EAP/WildFly or WebLogic application server components where applicable.
• Manage middleware clustering, HA configuration, and failover mechanisms.
• Perform middleware software patching and upgrades per Change Management process.
• Coordinate with L3/vendor support for complex middleware platform escalations.
• Maintain middleware architecture diagrams, configuration documentation, and run-books.
• Report middleware performance KPIs: message throughput, processing latency, queue depths, error rates.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• 5–8 years of experience in middleware administration and BSS integration.
• Expert knowledge of messaging platforms: IBM MQ, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
• Experience with ESB/integration platforms: IBM Integration Bus, Red Hat Fuse, Oracle Service Bus.
• Knowledge of JBoss EAP / WildFly / WebLogic application server administration.
• Understanding of integration patterns: pub/sub, request-reply, message routing, transformation.
• Experience with REST and SOAP API management and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Java/XML/XSLT for integration configuration troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of BSS integration flows and inter-system communication patterns.
• ITIL incident and change management awareness.
• English skills – oral and written.

• API Mgt/ESB/BPMN – Primary platform – Integration Server (ESB), API Gateway, and BPMN workflow engine: the central integration backbone connecting all BSS and third-party components
• Order Management – Integration flows via ESB – order orchestration BPMN workflows, downstream service calls, and order API routing
• Product Catalog – Catalog API publication via API Gateway – TMF620/TMF637 API exposure, catalog event routing, and catalog integration flow management
• Billing – Billing API integration – billing inquiry, payment notification, and charging API flows managed through the integration platform
• Mediation – Mediation-to-billing integration flows – CDR/UDR delivery routing and mediation event integration via middleware
• Dynamic Activation – Activation API integration – service activation trigger flows and activation status callback routing via the integration platform
• CRM (MS Dynamics/MSD) – CRM-to-BSS integration flows – Order Capture UI API calls, customer data synchronization, and CRM event routing via ESB
• IVR Call Center – IVR-to-BSS self-service integration – IVR API calls to billing (balance inquiry) and order management (order status) via API Gateway
• Inventory – Inventory API integration flows – resource availability check and reservation APIs exposed through the API Gateway
• Monitoring – Middleware monitoring – message queue depths, API throughput, processing latency, and integration error rates in centralized monitoring/logging platforms
• ITSM – Change management for integration route modifications, API policy changes, and new integration flow deployments

EDUCATION
• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
