IP Network & 2nd Line TAC Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled IP Network & 2nd Line TAC Engineer with strong experience in complex network environments and telecom operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IP networking technologies along with solid experience in advanced technical support and troubleshooting within large-scale service provider networks.


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in IP networking
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in 2nd line support / TAC environments (mandatory)

Technical Skills & Mandatory Knowledge

The candidate must have strong expertise in the following areas:

IP Networking

  • Routing & Switching
  • MPLS
  • OSPF, BGP
  • QoS
  • VRRP
  • BFD
  • Strong understanding of static and dynamic routing protocols
  • Experience with SSR/SE or Cisco-based environments

Network Infrastructure

  • HP networking equipment experience, including:
    • HP 5930 / 32QSFP+ Switch
    • HP 6125XLG Blade Switch
    • Brocade 16Gb / 16c SAN

Telecom & Transmission (Advantageous)

  • IP connectivity troubleshooting for telecom systems (core, access, charging)
  • Transmission technologies such as:
    • TN, MW, SP, PT, XPIC
    • SDH nodes and DWDM systems
  • General telecom network experience is an added advantage

Additional Skills (Preferred)

  • Cloud and virtualization knowledge
  • Basic scripting (understanding or development)
  • Cisco and Ericsson IP certifications (preferred)

Key Responsibilities

Network Operations & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Level 2 end-to-end troubleshooting across IP networks, including:
    • Routers
    • L2 / L3 switches
    • Transmission nodes
    • MPLS networks (including coordination with third-party vendors)
  • Investigate and resolve network outages and performance degradation issues

Network Management & Support

  • Perform node acceptance activities
  • Handle configuration management and network changes
  • Conduct system upgrades, including patches, hotfixes, and configuration updates
  • Support transmission-related troubleshooting using operational systems and tools

Transmission & System Support

  • Support troubleshooting for transmission equipment such as:
    • TN 2p, 6p, 20p (R6)
    • ML6600
    • R6000
    • ML6352
  • Generate performance and utilization reports when required
  • Support audits and validation of transmission networks

Cross-Team Coordination

  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams for resolving network design issues (MW/LB/DCN, SDH/CWO, IP/MPLS, GPON)
  • Support other technical teams (BO-Access, TNOC/SDH, GPON, Cisco) in E2E troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with 3rd line support for CSR creation and follow-ups

Governance & Reporting

  • Participate in technical review and transmission committees for analysis and investigation
  • Perform MDT/TCN approvals and verifications for transmission activities
  • Ensure proper documentation and escalation handling
