Job Description

The client is looking for a Core Field Engineer to work in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Purpose of the Role:

The Core Field Engineer is responsible for the coordination, management, and execution of Field Services activities supporting Operations and Engineering functions where on-site intervention is required. The role ensures continuous service availability and performance in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

The position primarily involves on-site activities and requires strict adherence to Project Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute corrective maintenance activities on network and infrastructure equipment
  • Manage site maintenance and report any facility failures that may pose health and safety risks
  • Perform preventive maintenance by managing checklists and coordinating maintenance schedules
  • Execute site acceptance activities and manage acceptance checklists as per defined scope
  • Coordinate spare parts handling, logistics, and maintain accurate inventory records

Qualifications and Industry Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a similar field services or core network role

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of telecom service networks including 2G, 4G, and 5G technologies
  • Experience working with multi-vendor telecommunications equipment
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for hardware-related issues in core network environments
  • Hands-on experience with network management and operational tools (e.g., CLI-based tools, file transfer utilities, Linux environments)
  • Experience with enterprise switches (e.g., Dell, Juniper or equivalent) is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Kubernetes, packet analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark), and cloud platforms is an advantage
  • Ability to resolve 1st and 2nd level hardware operations and maintenance alarms for core network elements such as databases, switching, and gateway nodes
  • Experience performing board/module replacements and applying operational procedures in live network environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for optical fiber issues, including loop testing, fiber cleaning, and power measurements using standard test tools
  • Experience supporting packet-switched core nodes and VAS-related hardware activities
  • Knowledge of redundancy testing, high-availability verification, and hardware recovery procedures
  • Provide on-site support during network management system outages
