Backend and Data Engineer

The client is looking for a Backend and Data Engineer (2 positions) to work in Dubai, UAE. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect, develop, and maintain cloud-native backend systems to support AI-driven healthcare applications.
• Design and implement data ingestion pipelines for structured (EHR/EMR, lab results) and unstructured (notes, imaging metadata) data.
• Build and manage secure APIs for seamless integration with internal systems and third-party services.
• Ensure system reliability, fault tolerance, and scalability for production workloads.
• Optimize data storage and retrieval across SQL, NoSQL, and Vector Databases.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, product teams, and clinical experts to enable effective data flows and application performance.
• Implement best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance aligned with healthcare industry standards.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve backend and data infrastructure.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience: 5–8+ years in backend engineering and/or data engineering roles with mission-critical systems.
• Proven expertise in:
  • Cloud-native development (microservices, serverless architectures).
  • Databases: SQL, NoSQL, and Vector DBs (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, Milvus).
  • Data pipelines for large-scale, high-throughput applications.
  • Secure API development and integration.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with MLOps or AI/ML workflows is a plus.
• Strongly preferred: experience with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7) and interoperability.
