AI Product Engineer
Job Description
The Manager: AI Product Owner (Platform) is responsible for defining the vision, strategy, roadmap, and business outcomes for the organization’s AI platform, ensuring it delivers scalable, reliable, and reusable AI capabilities aligned with business priorities.
The role is accountable for prioritizing platform capabilities, defining service levels and performance metrics, driving platform adoption across business units and technology teams, and measuring value realization. Acting as the primary interface between business demand and AI engineering delivery, this position ensures the AI platform evolves as a strategic product rather than a collection of individual technologies.
The role collaborates closely with AI Platform Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Security & Risk, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Value Realization teams, and business stakeholders to ensure the platform is aligned with organizational objectives, appropriately governed, adequately funded, and delivers measurable business value.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
1. AI Platform Vision & Strategy
- Define and maintain the AI platform vision aligned with organizational strategy.
- Translate business objectives into:
- Platform capability themes
- Clear business value propositions
- Position the AI platform as:
- A shared enterprise capability
- A scalable enabler of AI and digital transformation initiatives
- Balance innovation with platform stability, cost efficiency, and regulatory requirements.
2. Product Roadmap & Backlog Management
- Own and maintain the AI platform roadmap.
- Develop and prioritize an outcome-driven product backlog.
- Prioritize platform capabilities based on:
- Business value
- Risk reduction
- Platform maturity
- Business demand
- Ensure alignment between roadmap priorities, available funding, and delivery capacity.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Demand Management
- Engage with:
- Business stakeholders
- Product owners
- Technology teams
- Enterprise functions
- Translate business demand into:
- Clearly defined platform requirements
- Scalable enterprise capabilities rather than bespoke solutions
- Manage stakeholder expectations regarding:
- Service levels
- Feature availability
- Platform constraints
- Delivery timelines
4. Service Levels, Performance Metrics & Adoption
- Define and manage platform Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including:
- Availability
- Performance
- Usage
- Adoption
- Monitor platform adoption across:
- Business units
- Products
- AI use cases
- Collaborate with Platform Engineering and SRE teams to ensure service commitments are achieved.
5. Value Realization & Commercial Management
- Partner with Value Realization teams to:
- Measure business benefits delivered by the AI platform
- Identify opportunities for increased adoption and value optimization
- Ensure platform investments deliver:
- Measurable business outcomes
- Operational efficiency
- Cost optimization
- Reusable enterprise capabilities
- Contribute to budgeting, investment planning, and business case development.
6. Governance & Platform Lifecycle Management
- Ensure platform evolution aligns with:
- Enterprise architecture standards
- Security policies
- Risk management frameworks
- Regulatory and compliance requirements
- Support governance forums by providing:
- Platform performance reporting
- Roadmap recommendations
- Strategic investment insights
- Drive the platform lifecycle from:
- Pilot
- Production deployment
- Enterprise-scale adoption
- Continuous optimization
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in:
- Business
- Information Systems
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Technology Management
- Or a related discipline
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Product Management or Platform Ownership roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise technology platforms rather than solely end-user products.
- Proven ability to:
- Prioritize competing business and technical demands
- Translate strategic objectives into execution plans
- Manage product roadmaps throughout the product lifecycle
- Experience within highly regulated industries is advantageous.
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Data Platforms, Cloud Platforms, or Digital Transformation initiatives is preferred.
