Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations, monitoring, and maintenance of 5G Core network elements, including MSC, MGW, HLR, HSS, UDC, IP STP, DSC, EIR, PG, UPG, Backup Servers, CCDM, CCRC, CCSM, CCES, SC, EDA2, NeLS, and other related core platforms.
- Ensure the availability, stability, and optimal performance of all core network nodes to meet agreed service quality and operational targets.
- Configure, implement, validate, and maintain network parameters across all core nodes, ensuring consistency, reliability, and operational integrity.
- Monitor network performance, analyse system behaviour, and resolve performance-related issues proactively.
- Perform software upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance activities in accordance with operational procedures.
- Develop and execute maintenance plans that minimise network downtime and service interruptions.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and cross-functional teams to optimise network performance and service reliability.
- Troubleshoot network faults, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including incident reports, change records, and operational procedures.
- Participate in network expansion, integration, and design reviews by providing operational expertise and recommendations.
- Ensure all 5G Core platforms comply with applicable security standards, customer requirements, and regulatory policies.
- Conduct regular configuration audits to verify compliance with internal standards and security requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and operational support to field engineers, first-line support teams, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in planned maintenance windows, emergency support, and on-call activities as required.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in the operations and maintenance of 5G Core networks and virtualised core network functions.
- Strong hands-on experience with core network elements such as MSC, MGW, HLR, HSS, vHSS, vHLR, UDC, DSC, EIR, PG, UPG, CCDM, CCRC, CCSM, SC, EDA2, NeLS, and associated platforms.
- Solid understanding of 4G EPC and 5G Core architectures, UDM, NFV, cloud-native technologies, signalling protocols, and network virtualisation.
- Relevant certifications in 5G Core, EPC, UDM, NFV, or related telecommunications technologies are preferred.
- Experience using network management, monitoring, and performance analysis tools.
- Knowledge of scripting or programming languages (such as Python, Shell, or Ansible) for network automation is an advantage.
- Strong end-to-end analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex network issues.
- Proficiency in protocol analysis and troubleshooting across signalling interfaces and protocols using industry-standard protocol analysers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently under pressure while meeting operational deadlines.
- Willingness to provide support outside normal working hours when required to ensure network continuity.
