Job Description

Kimberly Hume is looking for a IT Cloud Data & AI Admin to work a 6 month rolling contract supporting a project based in Trinidad (Remote).

Job objective:

The IT Cloud Data & AI Admin is responsible for providing a mix of traditional database support along with Azure data administration. The focus for traditional database support will be the implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of databases. The Azure data administration support includes the design and implementation of data management resources, monitoring the security and privacy of data, and the automation of standards and policies using the full stack of Azure data services to satisfy business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, deploy and maintain databases and data resources in Azure.
  • Monitor system health and performance.
  • Monitor and optimize PaaS databases and data solutions.
  • Detect and troubleshoot database server related CPU, Memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
  • Ensure high level of performance, availability, sustainability and security.
  • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Provide 24×7 support for critical production systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Assist in automation activities wherever possible from design through development and deployment.
  • Share technical expertise and cross-train other peers and team members.
  • Implement data storage solutions that include relational and non-relational data stores.
  • Data security and compliance.
  • Process and policy automation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related studies.
  • Applicable Azure related certifications like DP-300, DP-203, and AZ-104.
  • 5+ years database management experience.
  • 2- 3 years Azure experience.
  • Experience in Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, and Azure SQL administration.
  • Experience in managing Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Experience in PowerShell, Azure CLI, KQL, and T-SQL.
  • Experience in Azure Monitor is a plus.
  • Experience in Azure Hybrid solutions such as Azure Stack and Azure Stack HCI is a plus.
  • Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving performance issues, including expensive SQL queries, blocking/deadlocking, excessive waits etc.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization, high availability and disaster recovery for databases.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
  • Familiar with data storage and protection, backup and data retention policies and processes.
  • Familiar with security and networking.
