The Systems Architect will focus on architecture, design and technical requirements for the software platform and NFV (network functions virtualization) product architecture on which all products will reside.  This includes all aspects of the NFV architecture – NFVO (orchestration), NFVI (infrastructure), life cycle management, MANO (management and operations), SDN (software-defined networks), service chaining, micro-services, etc.

 

Key job responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive and detailed functional requirements covering all aspects of the product or feature, and present these to the R&D teams
  • Work with and understand protocol specifications to ensure successful multi-vendor interoperability across complex end-to-end solutions
  • Work with partners and 3rd party vendors in to close on requirements
  • Work closely with R&D to ensure implementation meets requirements
  • Work closely with System Test (ST) to ensure proper test coverage of the feature
  • Assist Sales Engineering and Business Development teams in creating technical proposals for all business opportunities
  • Assist with RFx responses
  • Represent technical face-to-face customer meetings and forums
  • Protect intellectual property rights through patent filings as necessary
  • Attend occasional off hour conference calls with offices in Europe and Asia
  • Up to 15% domestic and international travel may be necessary

 

Specific Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a system engineer or solution architect in the telecom and/or IT industry
  • Detailed understanding of virtualization and NFV concepts
  • Detailed understanding of ETSI MANO specifications
  • Detailed understanding of SDN, SDN-C and service chaining technologies
  • Detailed understanding of network slicing technology
  • Detailed understanding micro-service architectures
  • Understanding of the 3GPP IMS architecture a plus
