DWDM Engineer (Huawei Equipment)

Fay is urgently looking for a DWDM Engineer (Huawei Equipment) to work on a 6-month rolling contract based in Uganda (Kampala).

Scope of work covers the operation & maintenance of Huawei Optical Network products( OSN 9800, OSN 8800, OSN 6800, OSN3500, OSN 2500, OSN 1500):
- Attend to all faults that occur under the minimum time possible and in accordance with the set KPI’s
- Handle escalated incidents and work closely with the NOC and regional engineers to resolve service issues.
- Act as a point of contact to facilitate handling of incidents and maintain relations with network peers and vendors.
- Oversee and execute planned network maintenance work, minimizing impact to services.
- Provide level 2 support for technical problems on Transport network for degradation of KPIs & segregation of problems
- Follow up with third parties and supporting vendors as part of incident resolution
- Prepare health check reports and end-to-end incident management for transmission domain
- Participate with peers to co-resolve critical client multi-technology network issues and provide creative recommendations to highly complex network issues.
- Monitor network resource utilization and highlight areas in need of new hardware or software
- Participate in the on-call role to manage network outages and escalations.
- Mentor team members on technical issues.

Required qualifications:
- Must have at least 3 years of experience in optical transport network design, optimization and operation.
- Advanced/higher level knowledge of troubleshooting and configuration experience on Huawei Optical Network products is preferred.
- Mobile backhaul network architecture and design experience is a must.
- Familiar with the use of various optical and Ethernet technologies test equipment(Optical Spectrum Analyzer, OTDR, Protocol testers…)
- Knowledge of industry best practice for Transmission Networks.
