Data Engineer

Kimberly Hume is looking for a Data Engineer to work a 4 month rolling contract based in Kingston, Jamaica.

Responsibilities:

• Business Requirements and Analysis :- Conduct thorough analysis of business and functional requirements, translating them into robust, scalable, and operable solutions. Offer strategic recommendations on data collection, integration, and retention requirements, incorporating business needs and industry best practices.
• Development and Implementation :- Develop innovative and effective approaches to solve analytics problems and communicate results and methodologies. Implement data structures using best practices in data modeling, processes, and technologies to ensure efficiency and scalability. Explore data to uncover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies, and trends, performing programming analyses across various data formats and platforms.
• Data Quality Assurance :- Identify data quality issues and correct same to ensure the consistency of the Data Warehouse. troubleshoot ETL performance issues and assisting with performance tuning of data solutions
• Data Governance :- Adherence to data standards, policies and procedures. Ensuring that solutions are in compliance with proper Data Warehouse governance and employ appropriate access control.
• Training and Documentation :- Preparing user-friendly technical and end-user documentation. Provide adequate training on solutions developed to both technical teams as well as end users.

Requirements: 

• Proficient in deriving solutions from loosely defined business challenges, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving acumen.
• Skilled in architecting and implementing medium to large scale BI solutions on Azure, utilizing a comprehensive suite of Azure Data Platform services.
• Expertise in executing Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes from diverse source systems to Azure Data Storage services, employing a variety of tools, technologies and programming languages.
• Competent in developing and managing Data Orchestration solutions and pipelines (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.), that will facilitate seamless data extraction, transformation, and loading from multiple sources.
• Possesses a strong understanding of Spark Architecture and effectively develops Spark applications for data extraction, transformation, and aggregation.
• Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, conveying complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders with clarity and precision.
